CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION     

1.0   BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

“The highest happiness on earth is in marriage, every man who is happily married is a successful man even if he has failed in everything else. And every man whose marriage is a failure is not a successful man even if he has succeeded in everything”-William Lyon Phelps.

Elvis H. Huffard Sir. (1987) often in his writing about modern marriages the picture of today’s family is a dim one with emphasis on broken homes. Such emphasis may be necessary to make more people conscious of the current conditions in Christian and traditional marriages. Victory is only promised to the Christian marriage not traditional marriages satan may have his temporary victories but ultimate victory belongs to Christians.

How ever one can have victorious home when he has the right personalities involved and are following the right pattern.

If there should be a comparison in Christian marriage and traditional marriage, the research work should be encouraged and the researcher also has to be encourage to spend much time in reviewing the written information in each chapter. For this reason, it has given the researcher much interest to carry out this study.

1.1      STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM   

It has been noticed in many places by many people the awareness of the problems and needs in marriage and family life. Since the problems of marriage, divorce and remarriage here in our society is paramount, and strengthening the family values of our society is great.

Therefore, the researcher has seen it necessary to carry out this wonderful study on the comparison between Christian and traditional marriages and to find out whether if the notion many people have toward saving marriages and building stronger homes in both the is true, or not.

1.2          PURPOSE OF THE STUDY.

This study is designed to find out

1             The comparison between the Christian marriages and the traditional marriages.

2              The origin and purpose of marriage

3             The most acceptable type of marriage and the best among them.

The solution on how to follow the natural or original designed         pattern of marriage.

1.3  SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

It was assumed that during this study, lots of people were expose to true fact that, the Christian marriage is God’s marriage and should be honour biblically. It will also point out the needs and the obligations in marriage.

It will energize both the youths and elders spirit into Christian marriages.

Finally it will help to encourage people own over the world to devout interest toward marriage.

1.4  ASSUMPTION.

In this study, the following assumptions are made.

1.     The number of people whose interest is base on Christian       marriage are Christians.

2.     There is sanctity in Christian marriages than in traditionalmarriages

3.     Those who are involve in traditional marriages are not faithful to      their spouse and God.

4.     Many who participated in this exercise majority are Christians

5.     That regular participation in this programme would bring awareness to lots of people on the right choice of marriage to make.

1.5   HYPOTHESIS.

In other to gather in formations effectively in data collection, the following hypotheses were formulated.

1         There is significant difference between Christian marriages and traditional marriages.

2          There is significant difference between the members  that get         involve in Christian marriages with those of the traditional marriages

3         There is no significant relationship between Christian marriages and traditional marriages.

4         There is significant different between the off springs of the Christian home and that of the traditional home.
