Abstract

The study was meant to examine the role of church leaders on youth’s empowerment for the survival and growth of the church in the 21^st century challenges. The main aim of the research is to examine the contributions of church leaders to sustainable growths among youths of the body of Christ, also the study emphasizes the importance of developing sustainable, independent business centers to serve the needs of youths in the 21^st century. The study made use of primary data from the information obtained from the distribution of research questionnaire to members of the selected denomination. The study made use of a total population of 100. The sample of 40 was considered for the study, the data obtained was analyzed using simple percentage which hypothesis were tested with the chi-square method. The findings here reveals that it is imperative for church leaders to empower youths on skills acquisition and ICT training to be able to cope with the 21^st century challenges. The study concluded that there must be some kind of organization and leadership in the church or else there will be anarchy and confusion. The study recommends that church leaders should leads by examples, rather than acting or playing Christianity just to justify righteousness.

1.1 Background to the Study

Church leaders and their churches play leading roles in community development worldwide, in direct response to God’s command to serve the disadvantaged. As globalization extends the reach of the market, new opportunities and challenges exist for these leaders, who seek to obey through holistic ministry. Church leaders plays a significant role in the growth and development of the church, the life of its youths, and the community as a whole. If the church fails to develop the youths, growth within the church becomes hindered, and its mission becomes aborted.
